The goal is to find an operator to create a vibrant hub of “encounters” and “activities” for a duration of three years.
A Strategic Transformation of a 1.3-Hectare Esplanade
This initiative is part of Paris La Défense’s ongoing efforts to meticulously transform the historic axis connecting the Louvre to the Grande Arche. The primary challenge is to redefine the purpose and appeal of this vast 1.3-hectare esplanade.
“The objective of this consultation is to bring this unique location to life on the scale of Greater Paris, by selecting a designer-operator capable of making it an attractive and comfortable destination,” stated Paris La Défense. “The consultation aims to make this site easily identifiable and appropriable by all, to make it a true living center.”
Key Requirements for the Future Operator
While the identity of the future operator remains unknown, several key parameters have been outlined for the project. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Creating convivial and relaxation areas: This includes the establishment of shaded and vegetated zones to enhance comfort and appeal.
- Installing appropriate furniture: The furniture must be suitable for various times of the day, consistent with the surrounding urban environment, and conducive to social interactions.
